Four simple innovations that aim to protect travelers from theft.
Date : 2016-08-26
There isn’t a single nation, city or locality in the world that doesn’t suffer from the impact of petty crime, but in many cases the risk factor increases for those who aren’t familiar with their surroundings and those who aren’t yet familiar with local customs. By distracting oneself with having to navigate an unfamiliar transport network or having to work that little bit harder to make yourself understood in a foreign language, visitors tend to be at a disadvantage and can become easy pickings.

Nobody should ever decide not to travel through fear of local crime, and that’s why these four very simple ideas will go a long way in keeping you and your valuables safe.

Wrist Wallets

Part of staying safe means not advertising that you have valuables in your possession, so using a wrist wallet avoids having a purse visible that may catch somebody’s eye. The wrist wallet appears to be a simple fashion accessory and is unlikely to draw attention. If your cover is ever blown, somebody is going to have to work very hard to gain access without you noticing!

Anti Theft Bags

Most bags are not designed with security in mind, but this one is. It features strong materials that prevent access through cutting the fabric, the zips make access trickier and with the modern era in mind, contain RFID card protection to prevent exploitation of contactless credit and debit cards.

DHL Envelope

This isn’t an innovation per se, but rather and idea that makes sense. The DHL envelope is just an example but by hiding valuables inside envelopes that can then be made a little scruffy with some tape, you can avoid publicly displaying your iPad or laptop whilst simultaneously keeping it nice and safe in a padded envelope.

Frontside bags

This seems obvious really, but many bags are designed for you to carry on your back and to your side. By rethinking the strap it’s very straightforward to create a bag that sits in front on you, and is in clear view rather than behind you. Whilst your head isn’t likely to be facing forward all the time, you certainly won’s seem like an easy and therefore worthwhile target. It’s also a very public display of safety diligence and this will be very off putting for any criminal.

We have to remember that on the whole, travelling is very safe. The only difference is the fact that we’re distracted by the very things we aimed to be distracted by! This could be the architecture, the people, ambience and even the ability to get some foreign language practise in. Staying safe just means taking a few precautions and having safety in mind.
